Numbers 16

There are times like today when I read the text and read what I have written before and wonder if there is really anything to add. There is but it closely follows what I have already noted. The Israelites know they are the LORD's people. They are as we might call ourselves the church. Yet just because you are God's people or the church doesn't give us the right to demand things should go the way we think they should. Yes, there is a time to confront leaders who have gone astray, but this isn't what is happening. They want to be in charge and are complaining that they haven't entered the promised land, ignoring that it was God who said they had to wait. God makes it clear, do it my way or face the consequences.

Before someone might complain it was wrong of God to do this, I might point out that it may be that if God hadn't acted so strongly the people might not have learned their lesson and thus ended up never entering into the promised land.
