At the beginning of this whole episode with the sons of Korah and Israel, they wanted to be able to approach the tabernacle. Now at the end they are saying they will all die and none of them will be able to approach the tabernacle. To me, this is just an example of people going to extremes. If a little is good, a lot is better. If there is danger, than it will kill you and we need to avoid it at all cost. In truth, God wanted the people to approach the Tabernacle but to do it the way he ordered them to do it.
As they say, the more things change, the more they stay the same. Our job is to learn from their mistakes.
