2 Thessalonians 1

6-7 "After all, it is only right for God to repay with affliction those who afflict you, and to grant relief to you who are oppressed and to us as well. This will take place when the Lord Jesus is revealed from heaven with His mighty angels."

The authors of the many Psalms cry out for justice and judgment. For most of us, we want it now. The question that bothers us and sometimes causes people to walk away from their faith is that it isn't happening now. In fact, it looks like it will never happen in this life. According to Paul, this is correct. We won't see justice in this world. We won't see God punish them, or we will rarely see it. These verses are a reminder that Jesus never promised that in this world we would have a perfect life. The only people who were offered something like a good life in this world was Israel if they obeyed God faithfully, and they didn't. By the way, we won't have done any better.

God is going to make things right, but not on our timetable. We will have more peace in our lives if we adjust our expectations to meet reality, God's reality
