Numbers 33

In the very beginning of this chapter and the story of Isreal's journey it starts with Passover and God saying he executed judgment on the gods of Egypt. For us today this may seem a small detail, but it shouldn't have been to Israel. Israel was going to be tempted to follow other gods. God was starting off this telling of their journey by saying that the gods of Egypt were defeated by God. The gods of a country were what the people believed is what gave them power. God was saying through Moses that the gods of the most powerful nation of the time couldn't stand up to God. The reminder is that if you want victory then be faithful to the God who defeats other gods. God ends the chapter with a warning that He will fight against Israel if they aren't faithful. This showed that God's power wasn't tied to the people but it was always His alone.
