Joshua 2

Give me some proof. This is what Rahab wanted. She wanted something that would give her hope that her giving help to Israel would mean that they would find safety for her and her family. The spies' answer was, as I would say it, "We're trusting you not to betray us, aren't we?" This is a very reasonable answer. We have to trust one another. It is sad that in our world, trust is often betrayed. What is making the difference here is one very big difference: God. The spies are serving God, and Rahab is trying to reach God.

People may betray, and people who serve God may betray, but God never betrays us. God promises to watch out for those who follow him. I remember that Jesus, too, was betrayed, but God delivered him as he will deliver us. This doesn't mean that we won't face pain; we do, and we will. However, God will make it right. When we do trust wisely, it is amazing what happens. The story of Rahab is a picture of that.
